
The house is particularly suitable for large groups and families. The house is so close to the beach and rock pools that the whole week could be spent enjoying these! Its close proximity to Seahouses, Bamburgh Castle and Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Courses make it a marvellous place for golfers to stay. For those interested in birdwatching, walking and cycling the Northumberland Coast is simply perfect and a range of relevant literature is provided in the house. In addition, the information folder in the house gives our suggestions for some local walks.
Coast/Beach:
The Haven beach is directly across the green in front of the house and is a delightful sandy beach with rock pools which are great for catching little crabs and fish! Beadnell Bay has a magnificent 2 mile sweep of golden sands and dunes. The quiet beaches of Annstead Bay to the north of the house can be reached on foot within 10 minutes. Stunning Bamburgh beach and Castle are only 4 miles away. The entire coast is part of the Northumberland Coast AONB and has beautiful coastal scenery.
Travel:
The nearest airport, Newcastle International, is 40 miles south of Beadnell, while ferries from Amsterdam link North Shields, 45 miles south of the house, to the continent. Beadnell is easily accessible by public transport with main line trains from London stopping at Alnmouth (15 miles) or Berwick (20 miles) and local trains stopping at Chathill (3 miles). The village has regular bus services, which can be picked up directly outside the house, to Newcastle, Berwick, Alnwick and Seahouses.
Distances:
The nearest small town is Seahouses, about 2 miles away, a bustling seaside resort with a range of shops, restaurants and amusements. Boat trips run regularly from Seahouses harbour to the Farne Islands and to Holy Island in the summer. Alnwick, a larger market town, is only 20 minutes away by car and has a number of supermarkets and a much wider range of shops, as well as the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Berwick, the Scottish Borders and the Cheviot Hills are all within 30 minutes drive.

Beadnell has a small shop, a very good pub with excellent food (The Craster Arms), a cafe/bistro, a church and a well-equipped children's playground. Seahouses has a supermarket which stocks a range of organic and fairtrade items, a bank, a good range of pubs, fish and chip shops, two pizzerias, two Indian restaurants and Indian and Chinese take-aways as well as a number of gift shops and typical seaside amusements. The Seafield Ocean Club in Seahouses welcomes non-members to its Health and Beauty Suite for a range of relaxing massages and beauty treatments. Also, its licensed coffee shop serves delicious home-made cakes for that real holiday indulgence. To the North, Bamburgh with its magnificent castle and the Grace Darling Museum is only 5 miles away and the village has its own butcher's shop where you can buy the famous 'Bamburgh Banger', a greengrocer, a delicatessen and quaint coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. South of Beadnell is the huge sweep of Beadnell Bay with its golden sands stretching for over 2 miles. Wonderful for children and the young-at-heart. Part-way round the bay is the Long Nanny bird reserve with a large colony of nesting terns and plovers. Another mile or so brings you to the beautiful National Trust village of Low Newton with Newton Pool Nature Reserve and the famous 'Ship Inn'. Dunstanburgh Castle dominates the views further south, its atmospheric 14th century ruins adding character to an already dramatic coastline. The market town of Alnwick offers a much wider range of amenities including banks, a health centre, as well as supermarkets and a wide range of specialist shops and a market on Thursday and Saturday mornings. A farmers' market is held on the last Friday of every month. The famous Alnwick Castle, most recently renowned for its role in the Harry Potter films, and the award winning Alnwick Gardens offer a splendid day out.
